Чинники регіональної варіативності англійської мови

Abstract

The article analyzes the factors of regional variability of the English language. It was determined that there are two main groups of factors affecting language development which are external and internal. Scientific studies present numerous criteria that determine the social characteristics of a dialect, namely education, profession, income, type of housing, age, gender, socio-economic class of speakers, etc. It seems most expedient to distinguish the actualization of any dialect of the English language according to the criterion of the socio-cultural level of its speakers: high, medium and low. Each variant of the English language can be identified based on its specific characteristics. The main criteria for distinguishing language variants and dialects are the region, the type of terrain, the socio-cultural level of the speakers and the degree of usage.
